Experienced Medical Professionals

Medicolegal Solutions Canada offers a broad array of services including: Education, Case Review of Autopsy Pathology, Independent Medicolegal Research, Trial Preparation Advice, and Expert Testimony.  A board-certified Forensic Pathologist can review both adult and pediatric deaths. A Forensic Pathologist can also act as a specialist consultant or expert witness for legal proceedings in court (Prosecution or Defense). We know there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all consultation, so we never use a one-size-fits-all approach to your unique situation.

Meeting clients to discuss their needs.

A Personal Approach

A Forensic Pathologist is a medical expert and compassionate physician that has a professional goal to listen and understand your medicolegal needs and challenges, no matter how small or complex they may seem. Human illness and the circumstances surrounding death may be poorly understood or contentious. Furthermore, assessing and interpreting forensic pathology and autopsy pathology findings requires an experienced professional with the correct training. Sometimes an impartial review of an autopsy report to explain the terms and findings may be all that is needed to help you better understand the factors leading to the death of your loved one, or client. Let us get started today on assisting you in understanding the facts of your particular medicolegal situation.

What is an Autopsy or Postmortem Examination?

The terms autopsy and postmortem examination mean the same thing. An autopsy is a medical procedure completed by an Anatomical Pathologist or Forensic Pathologist to document the roles of disease and/or injury in causing death. Autopsy pathology cannot be fully assessed without a postmortem examination. Medical imaging studies, such as CT scanning, are helpful but cannot replace the ‘gold standard’ autopsy procedure.

Due to the range of case complexity we are able to undertake, we generally work with clients (at no up front fees) to estimate the necessary time commitment to meet their needs. An agreed hourly rate, deposit, and payment terms will then be established prior to commencement of the formal forensic autopsy pathology consultation

***Please note that a case conflict review will need to be undertaken prior to formally engaging with the details and documentation related to your inquiry. We are currently unable to discuss and/or review any cases for which the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario (OCC) has been involved.***
